Growing a community of triple bottom line farm and food businesses!
We are growing a healthy local food ecosystem by developing facilities and services to help co-located food and farm businesses thrive at our 16 acre site just north of Ann Arbor, Michigan. At our Food Hub, we are creating a community of triple bottom businesses, and a model for regional sustainability and self-sufficiency. We’re doing this with small scale local food processing in our 3 commercial kitchens, and with local food storage, distribution, retail and wholesale. We are also demonstrating the value of closed loop energy systems with geothermal lines installed (a heat pump) for heating and cooling, and a 164,000 watt solar array. We are planning for education and research on sustainable agriculture and agro-ecology principles in the near future. We are seeking strong community engagement around food and our food system – keep up with our progress and events by liking us on Facebook.
Organized by successful organic growers, along with food service, project management and real estate professionals, we are developing the Washtenaw Food Hub and restoring a historic farm to serve public and institutional demand for local food and to strengthen and catalyze farm and food businesses.

Located at 4175 Whitmore Lake Road in Ann Arbor, the Washtenaw Food Hub features a beautiful sun window on its main building. This site houses 3 commercial kitchens leased by our anchor tenants Harvest Kitchen, The Brinery, and Ginger Deli and several smaller food businesses. Over the years, the Washtenaw Food Hub has been a pick up location for various community CSAs. The Sunflower Farm Market, is your one-stop shop for healthy, local nourishment all year round. It is currently open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 PM to 7 PM and also on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM. We offer a variety of produce, products from The Brinery, Harvest Kitchen and other Immune Booster Vendors.
The purpose of the Washtenaw Food Hub is to support local businesses and farms with a goal of serving as an agricultural educational center for food, farming and fiber.
